Amb. Jean Kamau joins Wanainchi Club to Bid Farewell to out-going DLCO-EA Director

Amb. Jean Kamau joined members of Wanainchi club as they bid farewell to the out-going Director, Desert Locust Control Organization for Eastern Africa (DLCO-EA), Dr. Stephen W. Njoka, OGW following successful completion of his tour of duty.

Dr. Njoka effectively headed the organization that is mandated to enhance Food Security in the Eastern Africa Region by promoting monitoring and forecasting techniques and implementing control operations against Transboundary pests viz: Desert Locusts (Schistocerca gregaria, African Armyworms (Spodoptera exempta), Grain eating birds (Queleaquelea) and Tsetse flies (Glossina fuscipes). Dr Njoka was instrumental in supressing the invasion of 2019-2021 in the Region by Desert Locusts.

The Member Countries of DLCO-EA are Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda covering a total land surface area of about 6,157,725 Km2with an estimated population of 180 million.
