The Republic of Kenya takes over the Chairmanship of the African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC)

The Republic of Kenya takes over the rotational Chairmanship of the African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) in the Month of March, 2021.

During this period H.E Uhuru Kenyatta EGH, The President of the Republic of Kenya will chair a discussion on sustainable peace in Africa at the Heads of State and Government level on 9th March, 2021

The issues that will be discussed at Ministerial and Permanent Representatives level are:

  1. Peace keeping in Africa: emerging challenges and critical lessons for sustainable peace keeping operations.
  2. Open session on women, peace, culture and Gender inclusivity in Africa at Ministerial level. This will be chaired by Amb. Raychelle Omamo, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kenya last chaired the African Union Peace and Security Council in April 2020.
