Young Kenyans celebrate Kenya @50 at the Kenya Embassy, Addis Ababa Chancery

As is the norm, the annual child Jamhuri and Chrismas party was held at the Chancery on the 7th December 2013. The celebration was momentous as it coincided with commemorating 50 years of Independence and offered the best opportunity for the children to show cases their talents and enjoy the fruits of fifty years of independence.

Since inception this was the third Annual children party and for the first time co organized with the Wanainchi club a group of Kenyans base and working in Addis Ababa .The children showcased their talents inform of singing, dancing and engaging in witty games as well as questions and answer on their knowledge of Kenya that depicted the true spirit ofPamoja Twasonga Mbele theme.

The occasion also accorded the young Kenyans an opportunity to know one another and share knowledge on their country, The children were also involved in witty games that are unique to Kenya, sports, face painting as well as the Kenyan foods and music in particular the significance of the Jamhuri day and to socialize and expressed hope that there shall be a déjàvu in 2063.

Ambassador Chika led the children in singing the National Anthem, cutting a special Jamhuri .The fun-filled day could not be complete without DJ entertaining the young Kenyans ushering them to the festive season and crowned with the issuance of a certificate of participation to each of the 93 participating children.The Embassy takes this opportunity to wish every Kenyan child in Addis Ababa a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2014 as we look forward to fun-filled children’s party in 2014!

We also thank the mission team, led by Mercy Odongo, Anthony Mathenge, and Wanainchi Club Member Monday Wakyendo and Sammy Karuku and the entire team for putting up a wonderful party for the Kenyans of tomorrow. Asante Sana!!
