The annual children Jamhuri and Chrismas party was held at the Chancery on the 8th December 2012. As is the norm the children started streaming in at the Chancery as early as 10a.m despite the official time being 10.30 a sure testimony of the significance the children in Addis Ababa attach to this momentous occasion.
The children were treated to a documentary film onKenya the Land of Affluence after which they were subjected to questions and answer on their knowledge of Kenya. The occasion provided an opportunity for Kenyan children to know one another, share knowledge on their country, in particular the significance of the Jamhuri day and to socialize. The children were also involved in witty games that are unique to Kenya, sports, face painting as well as the Kenyan foods and music.
Ambassador Juma led the children in singing the National Anthem, cutting a special Jamhuri cake, adorned in the Kenya’s
primary colours. The fun-filled day could not be complete without gift packs for the festive season and crowned with the issuance of a certificate of participation to each of the 68 participating children.
The Embassy takes this opportunity to wish every Kenyan child in Addis Ababa a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2013 as we look forward to fun-filled children’s party in 2013!
We also thank the mission team, led by Mercy Odongo, for putting up a wonderful party for the Kenyans of tomorrow. Asante Sana!!
