Kenya is represented at the Nation, Nationalities and Peoples Day of Ethiopia

Kenya, was one of the regional and neighbouring countries invited to participate in the Nations, Nationalities and People’s Day of Ethiopia on 9th December 2011.  Organised by the Tigray region, in Mekelle, the auspicious occasion was a concert of dance, music and colour as more than 70 nationalities of Ethiopia, feted in honour of their constitution that protects and guarantees equal rights across a ray of diverse peoples, nations, nationalities and cultures. The occasion kicked off on the evening of 8th December 2011 with elaborate performances by various artists and cultural groups.  The climax of the celebration was at the Mekelle stadium where the occasion was graced by H.E President Girma Wolde Girogis and addressed by the H.E Meles Zenawi, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia.

In attendance at this historic occasion was the Ambassador Dr. Monica Juma and Nathan Machani. Other dignitaries included, delegations from Sudan, Djibouti, Somaliland, as well as the Ambassadors of Cuba, Nigeria, Rwanda, among others.
