As is practice, every six months, the Ambassador gives a brief and interacts with the media on the state of play of the representation of Kenya in Ethiopia.  The media brief was attended by both international and local media outlets including Reuters, Dutcha Wella, Ethiopia ETV, among others.

In today’s brief the Ambassador focused on both bilateral and multilateral issues.  At the bilateral she noted the steady progress in the implementation of the decisions of the Joint Ministerial commission of June 2011.  At the Multilateral level she elaborated on the preparation work towards COP 17 in Durban latter in the month.  Kenya is a Member of the Head of State Committee of 10 on Climate Change (CAHOSCC).

On regional front, the ambassador on the question of peace and security as it relates to Somalia, and as it is being discussed at the IGAD and AU level following the Kenyan operation that has changed the dynamics on the ground.  It is the hope of Kenya that this discussion which culminated in the deliberations between the TCC for AMISOM, UNDPKO and partners on 14th November 2011 will culminate in a decision by the UNSC to enhance the mandate and operational capability of AMISOM, in order for this mission to undertake its full mandate in Somalia.
