As is the norm the children started streaming in at the Chancery as early as 10a.m despite the official time being 10.30 a sure testimony of the significance the children in Addis Ababa attach to this momentous occasion.

The children were treated to a documentary film onKenya the Land of Affluence after which they were subjected to questions and answer on their knowledge of Kenya. The occasion provided an opportunity for Kenyan children to know one another, share knowledge on their country, in particular the significance of the Jamhuri day and to socialize. The children were also involved in witty games that are unique to Kenya, sports, face painting as well as the Kenyan foods and music.

Ambassador Juma led the children in singing the National Anthem, cutting a special Jamhuri cake, adorned in the Kenya’s
